Citizen science, VLIZ & the sea

In citizen science, citizens collaborate with researchers to gather new knowledge — knowledge that is crucial to better understand and protect our world. Especially on the vast world ocean and along the immensely long coastlines, citizen involvement is essential. Add to that the awareness it creates, and it becomes clear why VLIZ actively invests in and believes in citizen science, both locally and internationally. Together, we monitor marine life, record (plastic) pollution, and track the condition of our coasts and seas as closely as possible.
